Our History

“Can you roast?” “Sure. No problem.”

Guy has had a thing for coffee since the early eighties when he was living in Spain. He has worked as a cook, food technologist salesman, and in the IT industry.

His developed passion for coffee was realised in the form of a Mobile Coffee franchise   in the early part of second century.  The Café Pronto Franchise started in Durban by Wayne Farrell in the late 90s sold Imported Italian coffee called Mauro –  This was the closest semblance of anything he had ever tasted since his days in Spain

So he sold coffee from a small trailer at our local BP garage every morning Mon to Friday for 7 years. This gave him his barista training and an incredibly loyal following of local coffee lovers from the Deep South.

Move on to 2015 and the brain child of Pete De Bruyn of The Foodbarn Deli and restaurant at the Noordhoek Farm Village to have a dedicated coffee takeaway station placed at the entrance to the Village

We had a chat and one idea led to the next  “Can you roast?” “Sure. No problem.”

The Village Roast was born in May 2015.

Since then we have managed to develop a fairly consistent House Blend and to sell a few cups of  coffee to both the locals and the cycling fraternity.

If you’ve been cruising around Noordhoek in the “Deep South” and smelt something cooking, it’s probably us!
